Wilmington Handbell Ensemble was founded by Michael Helman in 2000 and is the only community based handbell ensemble in Wilmington.
Membership is by audition or invitation and the group draws from various church bell choirs in New Castle County. The purpose of the Wilmington Handbell Ensemble is to educate and introduce audiences to the beautiful and varied repertoire for handbells as well as promote excellence in musicianship among its members.

In addition to their own concerts, the Ensemble has played at Longwood Gardens, First Night Wilmington, Christmas in Old New Castle, Christmas Open Houses in Salem and Woodstown, New Jersey, Brandywine River Museum, and Delaware Art Museum. They have also been featured with the Newark Symphony and the Rainbow Chorale of Delaware and the Wilmington Madrigal Singers in their holiday concerts.

What Folks are Saying About the Wilmington Handbell Ensemble...
Picture

“Your performance was a special way to get in the holiday spirit. You have a talented bunch of musicians. They make it look easy, but I know it is not!" December, 2022
“Many thanks for a delightful concert at Trinity UM Church last Sunday!  “Theme Songs to Ring By” presented music we have known and loved over the years, as well as new tunes of which we should be aware.   Your program was as educational as it was enjoyable;  your teamwork — the concentration, coordination, musicianship, and even athleticism —  impressive!    It was a real treat for all of us.  Keep up the good work!”, Salem County Arts Alliance, May 2018
"... this must be what heaven sounds like..."  - Concert goer, St. Paul's UMC, December 2017
